The opening & closing of an episode b/c in January 1979. "The Pip Freedman Show" started on Springbok Radio in January 1968 & continued
until the closure of Springbok Radio in December 1985. The series continued on Radio South Africa in 1986 & sadly ended in December 1987.
The series made Pip Freedman a household name in South Africa & became so popular that 6 long playing records were released by Teal
Record Company, in which Pip performed a host of comedy songs & sketches. One of the popular Pip Freedman songs was "The Ballad of the
Traffic Cop" in 1971 & also "Garden Boy" in 1972. Pip Freedman started on Springbok Radio playing parts in "The Caltex Show", "Caltex
Kaskenades", "The I & J Loudspeaker Show" & "Next Stop Makouvlei". One of the most popular of the Pip Freedman sketches was "Radio
Darkest Africa" which Pip did during "The Pip Freedman Show" from 1968 to 1979. An extract of "Radio Darkest Africa" can be heard by
